January 17 | Season of Wonder
There are practical reasons for participating in a faith community. Research shows that church membership lowers blood pressure, reduces stress, enhances a sense of belonging. But you can also join a gym and get much of the same effect. When faith becomes stagnant, it is often from a lack of wonder. It is the moments that take our breath away that compel us to explore the Divine. How do we cultivate and prepare our hearts to experience wonder? How is wonder an essential ingredient that makes forgiveness, justice, love and so many other parts of our faith make sense? it is wonder that lifts us beyond duty, to participating in the ongoing creation of God. Pastor Todd will lead us in exploring this theme through Psalm 8, on Thursday night, January 17.

Come at 6:00 for worship and dinner
Common Ground, is a farm-to-table dinner church that meets at 6:00 on the first and third Thursday of each month in Lyman Hall at First Churches. At Common Ground we cook and eat dinner together from food we’ve grown or sourced locally. Our worship centers around the growing, preparing, cooking, and sharing of a sacred meal. Over and around dinner we sing, play, share, pray, read scripture, and take the time to respond.
