Advent Fig Bread

Advent Fig Bread

First Churches celebrated the first Sunday of Advent with an afternoon communion service and a new kind of bread, Advent Fig Bread.  Pastor Todd preached on the symbolism of figs in the Bible, which represent the good life of sitting in the shade of the tree and eating its sweet fruit.  (Did you know that the Buddha found enlightenment under a type of fig tree?)  Together with the Hungry Ghost Bakery, Pastor Todd cooked up the idea of Advent Fig Bread.  Baker Jonathan Stevens added his magic and expertise and created not just tasty bread, but a work of art that made the celebration of our Advent hope a meaningful expression of faith.  The bread is now features on the Sunday Menu and Fig and Barley Bread so you can try it!  Thanks to Jonathan and the Hungry Ghost!
