Appealing or Appalling? Studying the Letters of the Apostle Paul
PAUL’S VISION ON THE ROAD TO DAMASCUS Bible Study Sundays @ 8:45
SUNDAYS @8:45 AM
The letters of Paul (and his imitators) comprise half the New Testament. These epistles are the earliest historical documents of Christianity and have been foundational in the spiritual lives of Augustine, Luther, Calvin, and Western Protestant Christianity. Some scholars have claimed that we see Jesus through Paul. These epistles have led to spiritual transformation, and also used to justify repression of women, slavery and exclusion of homosexuality. And yet in Galations 3:28 he wrote “in Christ there is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, but all are one in Christ Jesus.”
How do we make sense of this controversial figure? What should his true role be in our understanding of the life of Jesus the Christ? We will explore the writings of Paul each Sunday in the Parlor at 8:45 AM. Join us any Sunday, come when you can or come each week. Pastor Todd will background materials here on the website throughout the series so you can fill in the gaps. Like First Churches of Northampton on Facebook for regular updates.
