Imagine buying $20,000 worth of food at the grocery store this week. Now imagine doing it again and again. Every week of the year. All year long. That’s the amount of food the Northampton Survival Center gave out to over 4,500 of our neighbors in need last year*.
Help First Churches support the Northampton Survival Center by making a regular, weekly donation! We want to continue our tradition of weekly collections that were started some years ago by Helen Clayton. Collection baskets are located at both church entrances on Sunday mornings.
However, lately, donations have significantly decreased.
Help us to revitalize this mission with a kick-off Food Drive on Sunday, November 20.
Please bring a donation of non-perishable food that morning. The center is most in need of:
- canned chicken or tuna
- baked beans
- peanut butter
- powdered milk
- macaroni & cheese
- canned tomatoes
- spaghetti sauce
- fruit juice
- canned fruit
- canned vegetables
- unopened spices
- cooking oil
Also for the holidays, clients frequently request:
- Canned Gravy
- Instant Mashed Potatoes
- Stuffing Mix
- Canned Cranberry Sauce
- Canned Pumpkin
- Small Marshmallows
Financial contributions to the center are also vital and in some respects, more cost efficient. Perhaps you would consider making this type of donation? Please go to: http://www.northamptonsurvival.org/ to do so.
By helping First Churches in this mission effort, you will be “helping to ensure that a thousand local school children have three meals a day, every day; that hundreds of seniors have food and medication; and that every household has food in its cupboards. With your help, nobody in our area goes hungry on our watch.”*
