The First Churches Meeting House at 129 Main Street is a major community center in downtown Northampton, serving the city and western Massachusetts. Dozens of groups use our building on a weekly or monthly basis. We also rent space for special events including Northampton’s First Night, town hall meetings for local and national politicians, craft fairs, concerts and other performances, and of course, weddings. Available spaces include: the Church Parlor; Chapel; Lyman Hall (a large room serving as a banquet hall and and can host just over a hundred people for concerts, dances, etc.); and smaller function rooms, on the lower level, accommodate groups such as A.A. and N.A. Our magnificently restored sanctuary, which has a capacity of 636, is also available for rental for concerts, weddings, and the like.

 

Rental fees shown are our standard hourly rates of one-time use. We offer negotiable, sliding scale rates for regular weekly/monthly rentals, registered nonprofits, or community-based groups/events in line with the mission and values of the church. Donations of space may be considered on a case by case basis by our Church council. For large events we may request an additional fee for staffing costs and/or a $100 damage deposit.

The Church can’t always promise space will be available. Church space is available to appropriate uses. All groups and events must be approved by members of a Church committee.
