The First Churches Meeting House at 129 Main Street is a major community center in downtown Northampton, serving the city and western Massachusetts. Dozens of groups use our building on a weekly or monthly basis. We also rent space for special events including Northampton’s First Night, town hall meetings for local and national politicians, craft fairs, concerts and other performances, and of course, weddings.

Available spaces include: the Church Parlor; Chapel; Lyman Hall (a large room serving as a banquet hall and and can host just over a hundred people for concerts, dances, etc.); and smaller function rooms, on the lower level, accommodate groups such as A.A. and Al-Anon. Our magnificently restored sanctuary, which has a capacity of 636, is also available for rental for concerts, weddings, and the like.

 

The Church can’t always promise space will be available. Church space is available to appropriate uses. All groups and events must be approved by members of a Church committee. A rental fee is required for use.

 

Room Descriptions:

 

Lyman Hall – Wooden floors and cathedral ceiling. Holds up to 125 people using chairs or 96 people using chairs and tables. Can be used for meetings, receptions, banquets, etc.

The Fleming Ives Parlor – High ceiling, fireplace, wooden floor.

Chapel  – Newly Renovated! Perfect space for all kinds of gatherings. Can hold up to 80 people.

Sanctuary – This is our 2 million dollar renovation that

displays the fine craftsmanship of yesteryear. Solid cherry

wood, cathedral ceilings, solid marble clock and beautiful

stained glass windows – one Tiffany, done by himself.

The Sanctuary can be used for weddings, meetings,

concerts, plays, etc… with 500 seats in the heart of

downtown Northampton.

Rec Room – This is a large space located in our basement floor. It has wooden walls and painted floors. This room can be used for large gatherings, it can hold up to 80 people.
